Giveaway Rules

These rules apply to every giveaway, contest and prize promotion that Buchan runs, on buchan.store, in emails, in the Buchan Members Club and on our social media. Each giveaway also has its own details, published with the announcement: the dates, the prize, how to enter and the questions. Those details are part of these rules. If they differ from these rules, the giveaway details apply.

1. Organiser

2. Who can take part

  • Anyone aged 18 or over, from any country, unless the law of their country doesn't allow them to take part.
  • Employees of Buchan, their household members, and anyone involved in organising a giveaway can't take part.
  • One person can only win once per giveaway, unless the giveaway details say otherwise.
  • We may ask a winner to prove their identity and age before we hand over a prize.

3. Taking part is free

You never have to buy anything to take part or to win. Every giveaway has a free way to enter, described in its details. Where a giveaway gives entries for purchases, a free entry has exactly the same value as one earned with a purchase.

4. How the winner is chosen

How winners are chosen is described in the giveaway details. Where winners are drawn, the draw is random among all valid entries, and every entry has the same chance, whether it was earned with a purchase or entered for free. The draw takes place on the date given in the giveaway details.

5. Entries that don't count

  • Entries made outside the giveaway period, or with incomplete or false details.
  • Entries made with fake or multiple accounts, scripts, bots or other automated means.
  • Entries earned with an order that is later cancelled, refunded or returned, in full or in part. The entries that order earned are removed.
  • Entries from anyone who tries to cheat, or who behaves in a way that harms Buchan or other participants.

Buchan may exclude such entries and participants, also after the draw, and reclaim a prize that was won this way.

6. Prizes

  • The prize is described in the giveaway details. Photos are for illustration.
  • Prizes are personal. They can't be exchanged for cash or another prize, and can't be transferred or sold on before they're handed over.
  • The winner pays any costs that come with the prize, such as taxes, registration, insurance and transport, unless the giveaway details say otherwise.
  • If a prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside our control, Buchan may replace it with a prize of the same or higher value.

7. Contacting the winner

We contact winners by email from an @buchan.store address, or by a direct message from one of our official accounts:

Messages from any other account are not from Buchan. The winner has 14 days to reply. Without a reply, or if the winner doesn't meet these rules, we choose a new winner in the same way.

We'll never ask you to pay anything, or for passwords or bank details, to receive a prize. Messages that do are not from Buchan.

8. Publicity

We may announce a winner by first name and the first letter of their last name on buchan.store and our official social media accounts. We only use a winner's photo or other details with their permission.

9. Social media

Our giveaways are not sponsored, endorsed or run by Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or any other platform, and those platforms are not responsible for them. Buchan's only official accounts are Instagram (@buchan), TikTok (@buchan) and Facebook (Buchan).

10. Changes and cancellation

If a giveaway can't run as planned, for example because of fraud, technical problems, force majeure or a change in the law, Buchan may change, pause, extend or end it. We announce this in the same place as the giveaway. We only do this when it's needed, and keep it as fair as possible for everyone who already entered.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Buchan is not liable for entries that are lost, late or incomplete because of technical problems, for problems with the delivery or use of a prize once it has been handed over, or for any damage from taking part. This doesn't limit our liability for intent, gross negligence, or death or personal injury, or any rights you have that the law doesn't allow us to exclude.

12. Personal data

Buchan Company BV processes the details you give us when you take part (such as your name, email address, country and answers) only to run the giveaway, contact and verify winners, and hand over prizes. We keep them no longer than needed for that, and at most 12 months after the giveaway ends, unless the law requires longer. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at support@buchan.store. 13. Complaints

Send any complaint about a giveaway to support@buchan.store within 30 days after it ends. We answer within 30 days.

14. Applicable law

These rules are governed by Belgian law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection that the mandatory consumer law of that country gives you. Disputes go to the competent courts of Gent, unless the law gives you the right to go to the courts where you live.

By taking part in a Buchan giveaway, you accept these rules. They're always available on buchan.store/pages/giveaway-rules, free of charge.
